Gredič castle was built in the 17th century and adapted in the 18th century. As there were no vineyards in the vicinity, there was no wine cellar either. Due to the change of ideas and appendices to the programme, the architect Rok Klanjšček added cellars around the entire structure, which now serve as restaurant, wine cellar and service areas. Prior to the reconstruction, the castle was empty and only statically stabilized. The whole interior had to be recreated. The approach to designing the old castle’s new interiors was determined by a wish to preserve the castle’s ambience, but with a transposition to the present.
